ILSE GIJSBERTS

09/09/2016

“I work from a place of freedom, because everything is possible in my surreal paper world.”

Ilse Gijsberts (the Netherlands) is the second artist to present her work at The Caribbean Housewife. Her surrealist collages tell intriguing stories about dreams and universal human emotions, such as fear, frustration, love, and hope. She makes her work from rare vintage magazines, which she finds on her extensive travels. Ilse created a new series from vintage magazines she found in Caribbean places, such as Cuba and Curaçao. This new series premiered on December 1, 2016 and was on show until March 19, 2017.
